Dango Pets - Free Pattern

Dango dumplings and pets? What could be cuter? This is a super quick and easy pattern that's suitable for beginners and seasoned crocheters alike. It could make a super cute keychain, too!


Dango Pets

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic Solid yarn)
  • Crochet hook (I used a 4.5mm hook)
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

 

Abbreviations (US terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • ss - slip stitch
  • FLO - front loops only
  • BLO - back loops only
  • mc - magic circle
  • (...) - repeat the part in parenthesis specified number of time
  • (#) - number of stitches after finishing the round

 

Finished Size

Approximately 1.5 inches tall each. May be different for everyone based on yarn thickness, hook size, and tension.

 

Pattern Instructions 

Bodies (make 3 in grey, black, and light brown)

1. 6 sc in mc (6)
2. Inc x6 (12)
3. (Sc, inc) x6 (18)
4. (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
5 - 9. Sc around (24) (5 rounds total)
10. (2 sc, dec) x6 (18) 

Embroider nose over 1 stitch between rounds 7-8, and eyes over round 7. Start stuffing
11. (Sc, dec) x6 (12)
12. Dec x6 (6)
Fasten off and sew hole closed



Cat ears (make 2 in black)

In main colour
1. 4 sc in mc (4)
2. (Sc, inc) x2 (6)
3. (Sc, inc) x3 (9)
Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing. Do not stuff


Cat tail (in black)

In main colour
Ch 6, skip the first chain from the hook and do 5 sc down the chain. Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing


Dog ears (make 2 in dark brown)

In accent colour
Ch 5, skip the first chain from the hook and do 4 hdc down the chain. Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing


Dog tail (in light brown)

In main colour
Ch 5, skip the first chain from the hook and do 4 sc down the chain. Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing


Bunny ears (make 2 in grey)

Ch 7, skip the first chain from the hook and do 6 hdc down the chain. Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing


Bunny tail (in white)

1. 6 sc in mc (6)
2. Sc around (6)
Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing



Attaching Parts

Sew the ears to the sides of the top of each body, and the tails to each bum.

Raccoons are one of the cutest North American animals, in my opinion! Some regions even have blonde ones that are super cute, too!
